Season 2012

FÅKus welcomes Tuija Lindström

by Tuija Lindström

Everything is falling to place and on May 17th we will open an exhibition with Tuija Lindström's photographic travel through her development.
With a few, well chosen photos Tuija Lindström - a very discussed photographer during the 80's as well as the very person who introduced an artistic thought into Swedish photography - will encourage the viewer to look at her pictures, old as well as newer ones, with new eyes.
We all develop, and with us even our ability to look and to see. Photography, art, offers you the opportunity to return to times passed and interpret pictures, as well as words, through your experiences. What was shocking yesterday, doesn't shock today. What we experienced as provoking 5 years ago is fully plausable tomorrow.
Just like during the previous season opening hours vary so please check the Facebook site or the blog when planning your visit. Even this year groups (min. 6 pers.) are welcome to book private tours in case you do not have the opportunity to come during opening hours. In that case please call Rita at +46 (0)701 403318 or Johan at +46 (0)702 431533. We'll be happy to guide you through each current exhibition and answer your questions.
Welcome!

Season 2012

FÅKus getting ready to rock'n'roll

Gallery

FÅKus is preparing to meet the new season 2012.
A very simple, but nonetheless ambitious enlargement is being planned to the gallery during 2012.
Due to a guest photographer whom we'll warmly welcome to FÅKus during summer 2012 (we'll reveal more later on during the spring), plans are being made in order to create an additional room where changing exhibitions will take place and, possibly, even a small gallery shop will be opened.
Just like during previous season, even this year groups are welcome to book private tours in case you do not have the opportunity to come during opening hours. In that case please call Rita at +46 (0)701 403318 or Johan at +46 (0)702 431533. We'll be happy to guide you through each current exhibition and answer your questions.
Welcome!

Summer 2011

Gallery FÅKus opens

Gallery

In June 2011 FÅKus opens it's door to the public.
Renovated with very modest means in the old laundry- or brewhouse of the farmhouse we live in, photography will be hanging on these old walls starting this summer.
The exhibitions will be held only during the warmer period of the year due to the rooms' humidity. For the same reason opening hours will be limited between 2 and 5 pm and mainly during the weekends. After every exhibition the photographies are taken down and put into a drier, warmer room until next opening day.
Groups are welcome to book private tours. Please call Rita at +46 (0)701 403318 or Johan at +46 (0)702 431533. We'll be happy to guide you through each current exhibition and answer your questions.
Welcome!

Living Stone, I presume?

Living Stone poster

Stone can be an ever so fascinating subject. And of course: it doesn't go anywhere and might therefore be a rather rewarding motif. No chasing, no camouflage needed. But still, you have to be there at the right time. Otherwise you'll miss the colors and the emotions it can give you.
Light and stone together, with water as a conveyor of myriads of living organisms, can offer you these small works of art only a slow, patient walker can discover on the bottom of the sea.
The exhibition in Ottenby's Blue Pavilion (Blå Paviljongen), situated by Sweden's highest lighthouse Långe Jan on Öland, will be open for one week only, from 11 am to 5 pm
As usual a donation will be made to the Swedish Ornithological Society - SOF based on the eventual sale of the pictures.
Welcome!

August 23rd ONLY! Between 12 noon and 6 p.m.

Konstrundan - women photographers' network

Exhibition Mooh!

On saturday 23 August at noon about a hundred women photographers will simultaneously open their exhibitions all over Sweden and abroad. Find out more here!
Personally I welcome you to attend to a picture show dedicated to a gentle, yet strong and most beautiful creature which is very present in the local landscape, strongly contributing to Southern Öland having been included to the UNESCO list of world heritage: the bovine.
The picture show will take place by the lighthouse Segerstads fyr from 12 noon until 6 p.m. on saturday 23 August ONLY!
To find the lighthouse turn east abt. 30 meters south of the northern sign "Segerstad".

PLEASE NOTE:

the road to the lighthouse (abt. 2 km) is particularly bumpy and precarious. If you choose to drive down by car (rather than taking a beautiful walk) driving occurs fully at you own risk and responsability! Because there is no opportunity to meet another car on the road drive down to the lighthouse every hour starting at 12 o'clock and back up to the village from the lighthouse every hour starting at 12:30.
WELCOME!
P.S. Weather permitting a small "al fresco" café will be opened in the lighthouse garden with simple refreshments to purchase.

Ölands Konstnatten - The Night of the Arts

Konstnatten pressbild Foto: Peter Strand

This year I'll have the honour and privilege to work alongside Bodil Magnusson, an established glass sculptress whose fascinating works are inspired by ancient viking legends and pagan beliefs of the mysterious North.
Joining together past and present and with stone as theme Bodil will create a suggestive and mystical atmosphere on the ancient burial field of Seby (south-eastern Öland). The visitors will also have the opportunity to visit her studio, situated south of, and partly on, the burial field.
In the barn north of the studio I will present a multimedia show entitled "The Gorgons' Glance - there's still a Trace of Life", encouraging the viewers to see through the powerful yet tranquil material that is stone, often considered just dead matter.

Spring 2008 in Sweden and July 17th to 23rd in Finland

Reflections

“...why should we not calmly and patiently review our own thoughts, and thoroughly examine and see what these appearances in us really are?” - Plato

Exhibition Reflections

The latest "Reflections" exhibition was held in Finland in July (17 - 23) in Miinan mökki in Sammatti and was a success. The sale of pictures resulted in a donation of 250€ (50€ for every sold picture) to the Swedish Ornithological Society - SOF for conservation work.
I thank all the visitors and especially the buyers, who will be contributors to the valuable conservation work of SOF both in Sweden and all over the world. THANK YOU!
